Selfish giving with CAUSE marketing announces Solar Brokers for Charity.

Sun Source Solar Brokers is pleased to announce Solar Brokers for Charity.  We’re gearing up to launch a charitable donation program called “cause marketing” as a way to raise money for our local charitable causes and give back to our community.

Cause marketing or cause-related marketing relates to a type of marketing involving the collaborative efforts of a “for profit” business and a non-profit organization for mutual benefit, otherwise known as, “selfish giving”.  In essence, a business may give to a charitable cause in order to receive increased brand awareness, and to earn acceptance with its consumers.  Whereas, the charitable cause will receive donations to acknowledge the donating business by giving back social media praise.  Some examples of this are:  placing the donating company’s logo on the non profit’s website, or making mention of the donation in a press release.  Everyone wins for giving and receiving, but mostly, for those who are in need of charitable help to begin with.

Cause marketing can take on many forms, including:

  • Product, service, or transaction specific
  • Promotion of a common message
  • Product licensing, endorsements, and certifications
  • Local partnerships
  • Employee service programs
  • Digital Programs

Here’s ours:

Called a purchase triggered donation program; when one of our customers makes a solar electric purchase, we donate a percentage of our profit to one of our charitable partners.  Ideally, our charitable partners are those who have something in common with our solar broker business.  For example, solar sales donations go well with low cost housing for families, or “greening” an old building to retrofit with new energy efficiency improvements.

Stay Tuned for Our Plan of Action:

We’re looking for local Marin and Sonoma County non-profit partners who share something in common with our business product and service.  Ideally, we know we must partner with charitable organizations that have a strong, fluent and demonstrated track record in social media marketing; like Facebook, Twitter and other forms of leveraging public relations within our community.  Without a strong media presence, neither our business nor the charity will excel in perpetuating a consistent public message to drive more purchase driven donations.

We Help One Another to Help Others:

Let us know if your non-profit resonates with anything we’ve said here.  Please contact us to learn more, and let’s see if we’re a match to design and implement a cause marketing campaign together!
